VICTORIA SLOANE
Tori was raised in a christian household for all of her early life, but never really connected with
Christ, and ended up drifting away throughout highschool. She struggled with many things, including anorexia, self harm, and repeated sexual assault, and got to the point where she truly saw no hope for herself. When she graduated highschool, she moved out of her parents home, after having rocky relationships with both of them, and into a home with two other roommates.
Things progressively got worse as time went on, and she realized that she couldn’t stand the endless amounts of partying and drinking that both of her roommates took place in, despite still loving them both dearly. She asked her parents for help, and they agreed to let her come home, but first, they paid for her to go to a Survivors Boot Camp, and she went, reluctantly. When she got there, she experienced for the first time in her life, what the true love of Christ meant. The people there genuinely cared for her, and showed it every time they had a chance. Slowly, her heart started becoming open to Christ again, but she still wasn’t entirely convinced.
While she was questioning this, her eyes opened to the evilness of abortion, as they showed the group exactly what it looked like, all throughout different stages of pregnancy. These images broke her heart, as she identified with them. Tori had an older brother, who was stillborn due to medical neglect, and she couldn’t stand to see the photos of these babies who were his age. The only difference was that they had been murdered violently, but in comparison, these sweet babies were exactly the same. They had eyes and noses, fingers and toes, they could feel pain, and they were beautiful. She knew that she could never view abortion in the same way that she used to, and she knew she had to do more. But her heart changed not only in one way, at the end of camp Tori found herself realizing that God was real, and that he loved her, despite what she had believed for the previous five years. It wasn’t long after that that she was given an opportunity to join Survivors, which she did, knowing that God had called her to do the most important work of all, spreading His word, and saving lives.
